Here's a comment I have .... take it for what you want ...

NOT sure if I ever mentioned this or not ... but I really dislike vehicles.  Unfortunately, this is the evolution of the BF franchise so I am stuck with it.

Concerning squad play ... vehicles can really hamper squads by splitting them up.  a lot of times I have trouble spawning because everyone is in a full vehicle.  Other times I'm on foot with my tank squad and they take off leaving me defenseless and chasing them across the map.

Not quite sure how we need to incorporate vehicles and squad play but to me that part needs some work.  Sure a tank by itself is powerful ... but a tank with 3 foot soldiers repairing and guarding can be unstoppable.

EDIT: Add ...  One more annoying thing ... is when the SL spawns in a jet ...

Agreed.  I also need to work on this.  Sometimes as we are leaving a flag I see it starting to go down again.  So I turn around and end up losing the squad.  Had I said in VOIP "They are still here!" then the squad would have helped clean the area instead of me leaving them to die alone.

I think a lot of us who stray from the squad are not just running up to the top of the hill to snipe but are actually doing something that seems important at the time.  The key is to use VOIP so your whole squad knows and can then back each other up.

The kit makeup is also an important issue.  It seems if I take a break from running support I have a hard time finding ammo.  I very seldom get revived, unless there is no possibility of me surviving it, then I get the revive.

And please ....  feel free to yell at me if I am not performing to your satisfaction... SIR

I know how you feel Spec.  It seems that a lot of my games I am on the side that is always down 2 people and one of the few if not the only BFS person on that side.  (Even though I joined on a BFS person on the other side.)  It sucks being the top scorer by a decent margin of the losing team 3 games in a row.  It's like nobody else is trying and can be very frustrating.

On the other hand,  I have seen the BFS stacked side get owned by pubbers.

I have also seen games where the BFS members are evenly distributed but the games are still lopsided blowouts.

I have played many games where the unevenness has been voiced in chat and people (or whole squads) have voluntarily switched sides to make it more competitive.  I've moved to a losing team quite a few times because of this.

I have also voiced in team chat .. "Can't find a good squad so I am making one.  Join Hotel if you are a good squad player..."  once that good squad takes shape the game can really change.  It's not necessarily that the whole team sucks but more like the good players are all separated stuck with non-squad-oriented players.

I guess my point is that the one sided BFS blowout games are not necessarily the norm in the big picture and if you are in a game that seems that way then there are some things that can possibly be done about it.

I would hate to see you go just because of this little thing.

Let me know if we are both online Racer.  We can try the squad stuff out.

The Beta seems pretty fun.  I'm not so sure about how the squad/team play will be.  Spawns seem random.  I am an old Armored Core fan so I like that aspect of the game.

Shouldn't that be ...  "How to use an awesome emblem somebody else made" ???

I opened punkbuster and ran an Update which updated punkbuster then I had to run the update again in the new punkbuster to update the game sigs.  Was that done?

This was using the update function in PB itself.

Would there be any reason for a limited procon user to install the map manager plugin or is it a server plugin only?  I can't think of any offhand but haven't seen the plugin.  I could previously set next map and cycle next round given granular permissions which did not allow changing the map list which is fine for me.  The plugin sounds like it is more for list management.  Correct?

If I go in and set next map and then cycle the round will that screw up the map manager or does it rebuild the procon map list (server side) on the fly which my procon then sees?  I don't want to inadvertently mess anything up. I don't think I have attempted this since Corn installed the plugin.
Also, are permissions granular enough to allow a limited user to move players from one side to the other?  I don't seem to have that ability and it came up the other night when trying to group a guest clan together.  Unless, I just can't figure it out.  Racer was on and handled it that time but thought I would ask.

Another suggestion. (Given that the idle kick is gone...)

When you join and there are two of you don't run to the other uncap  and kill the guy that is obviously sitting there AFK because then they will idle out and can't help to start the server.

Is it bad form for the SL to squad speak "Spawn on and play as a squad or I will kick you from this squad"?

No its not. If someone is occupying a spot and not helping out I will and have kicked them; they may be taking a spot one of by brothers here could use or they may be taking a slot that another player could jump into and actually help out.

Cool, I agree to that but now I wonder how long until I space out and get kicked from our own squad.   lol
